Bangladesh has taken the lead of 1-0 in the three-match T20I series against the world champions. England has lost their matches in chattogram on this tour. The action shifts to Dhaka where the tourist won their ODIs.
A clinical performance from the Bangladesh team in front of a packed stadium. The bowlers are superb in the death overs for restricting England’s team to 156 who will have a total of around 200 after getting off to a brisk start. In reply, the Bangladesh team openers came out with a blazing team scoring 32 off for the first three overs. The team were removed in quick succession. Shanto got out at 0 only, he played a reverse sweep and got out with LBW. But the left-hander successfully reviewed that and they played great innings. He played some classy strokes, hit a lot of boundaries for fun and then notched a fifty with 27 balls. Gave company to his debutant Towhid Hridoy and they brought the asking rate under 6 RPO with great success.
England tried to make a comeback into the contest by removing both the set batter under the span of 7 deliveries. There were no further set batsmen for the home team as Afif Hossain and Shakib wrapped the game with unbeaten 46 run standing. This Bangladesh wins England in this format and they have done it in good style though.
1st T20I Review and Highlights
Shakib Al Hasan finishes with a different type from third man for four to wrap up victory by six wickets in two overs for sparing. Not a beautiful way to finish the game and the Bangladesh captain will not go to care a bit as well. Jofra Archer is into attack as the T20 world cup winners look a lot of great games ahead too. Archer drops it short to Hasan with his second ball only. The Bangladesh skipper helps the round corner down to get the fine leg. The ball hangs in the air and age but the thuds safely to the turf and two fielders. Afif Hossain then played arguably the shot of day Archer’s penultimate delivery. A beautiful front foot driver crisply stuck through all the covers for four.
Shakib Al Hasan- Bangladesh Captain
The way we approach the game was fantastic I can ask for more from our team. When we are being bowling, we planned to get a get spell but we didn’t panic at all. Everyone is new that what they should do to get this match in under us. All the bowlers stuck to their plan and played well. Other than my dropped catches, everyone fielded well and save a lot of runs. That’s what we are planning to do and successfully do in this match. In T20s, when you will think a lot of things then you can perform well we have learnt that full stop that’s the environment where we are trying to create great planning to perform in the field.
After planning in the dressing room we have successfully implemented that in the field and I’m proud of our team. This is a good start for our team and we are looking for continuing it. If you think about 2024, then we will be playing the world cup in West Indies. We are building on it from here only. We can get better so we will have to put effort to become the best team for the world cup.
Najmul Hossain Shanto- Player of the match
Towhid really batted well. I have just watched the balls and played a great cricket shot today. I wasn’t thinking to get those two wickets today. The way the bowlers bowled, was really outstanding, especially the way Hasan and task in. I had started playing normally. Rony and Litton started well enough to motivate me and others as well.
Jos Buttler– England Captain
Bangladesh finished the innings well. We were present in the position that to really kick in and then launch at the end, but we couldn’t manage to get away from it. We are probably 20 short with a score and we had to chase a little bit more in the field though. Bangladesh came out and played really well with intent and took the game away from us. That’s put us under a lot of pressure. We have got a lot of really good all-rounder, gives you a lot of options as a captain, it’s a nice position in the field too.
