Indian Cricket Captain: India’s seven captains since 2022

Team India has seen many changes in captaincy in all three formats since 2022. The management is experimenting with multiple players to test leadership skills. We have seen players like KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, and Shikhar Dhawan being used as captains in many different series. India is currently on a tour of Ireland and the team is being captained by Jasprit Bumrah. It’s a proud moment for every player of India to be the Indian cricket captain.

We are seeing this because it is not possible to stick to one captain for a long time. Nowadays players play a lot of cricket and due to this some of them also get injured. It is important to maintain balance here, so nowadays many teams use different captains for all three formats. This change started when Virat Kohli stepped out from the captaincy in January 2022 when India lost a test series against South Africa by 2-1. Rohit Sharma then officially becomes the captain of India in all three formats.
